Cultivating a growth mindset will create success

Cultivating the right mindset will lead to greater success in your professional and personal life.

You must step beyond a fixed mindset if you want success

A fixed mindset, proposed by Stanford professor Carol Dweck in her book Mindset, describes people who see their qualities as fixed traits that cannot change.

People who have a fixed mindset believe that they are either good or bad at something as if it is predetermined by their natural personality.

Stepping out of your fixed mindset to do something new is good!

If you have a fixed mindset, be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Every day, do one thing that shifts you towards a growth mindset. One easy way is by keeping track of your achievements and successes in a log or journal. If you made an angry customer happy, write it down. If you finished an important report, record it.

There is no best mindset for success just choosing the correct mentality every day

You will discover what is the best mindset factors in professional success if you listen to the video, Kim-Adele shares a lot of wisdom in all of our videos from her 3 decades in the corporate world.

You can read the word for word transcript below or watch the video above which will enable you to dig deeper into how the mindset factors in professional success.

So today we’re going to talk about mastering your mindset, right? Cause, that’s the company name, MasterMindSet. And there are lots of lots of things that actually help you to master your mindset.

We’re going to talk about mindset factors in professional success.

The big one. And I guess the one thing that, whoever’s book, you read, whichever leader or visionary, you go and look at, they all talk about the power of mindset and the fact that whether we believe we can or we can’t, we’ll probably be right. And so for me, one of the key things that I focus on and have done for a lot of years is how to choose my mindset. You know, things are going wrong. If I think I’m having a bad day I have a bad day.

So for me personally, I choose quotes. So I go and look for a quote every day to help me choose my mindset for the day and to realign myself with where I want to go versus where I might feel I’m heading.

I know you’re big into, you’re big into these quotes, but it’s, it’s really tough for people at work and in their careers.

When you work for a corporation, it’s a very difficult thing.

It’s difficult because you’ve got all this pressure haven’t you, and to, create a healthy mindset, you really need support from, the rest of the business and the business unit that you’re in.

I think you also need to be clear with where it is you’re heading and what it is that you’re looking to do more often than not. We get sidelined by our own perception. And our perception becomes our reality like becomes nine-tenths of the law. If we believe it to be true, it’s true. And more often than not, it’s what we’re telling ourselves that actually is causing the biggest problem in life.

It might not align with what anybody else is thinking.

I know certainly for me, when I was in corporate life, it didn’t matter how many awards or accolades or amounts of praise I got, I still didn’t think that I deserved any of them and still felt relatively hopeless. And that’s because you can’t, you can’t always find that motivation outside of yourself. If you can’t understand it inside of yourself.

It’s, very tough for a lot of people. And I think the first step with any problem is actually understanding that you have a problem. And for a lot of people, they may not even understand that they’ve actually got a problem. And that’s the thing. I think, you know, when you look at, for example, America and how people are really miserable in their jobs, they did a survey. I think it was like, was it 70% of people. Just don’t like their jobs.

That’s basically what the survey said a few years ago. So if you don’t like your job, then clearly you’ve, got a mindset issue because you’re not happy and you’re not grateful at work. You’re not grateful for your job probably in many cases. So, so that’s really going to create a bad, bad atmosphere around you. And then you’re, you’re, you’re not framing that in the right way, I guess some of it can be if you’re really unhappy in your role, maybe what you need to think about is what, would it need to look like for me to be happy in it? And how do I move towards that? Because often we can feel stuck where we are. And we often feel stuck because we don’t really know where we want to go. So instead, I did this many years ago, I made one of the largest career disastrous moves of my life. I upped sticks, moved across the country to an area. I didn’t know anybody, but how should I go big or go home and started a job that I hated to. I was there for three months, two of which were my notice period. And I was very lucky that somebody from a previous organization came back and got me.

I realized in that moment that actually I had been busy running away from what I had and not running towards what I wanted.

We often think about what we don’t want. And therefore when we’re, when we’re in that mindset, when we’re thinking about what we don’t want, anything else that comes along feels so much better. And we start looking at it in these rose-tinted glasses. Like I did, I looked at this, I said, oh my God, this is amazing right up my street. My name’s written all over it. It’s sales. I love sales. You know, my background, you know, for the first 20 years was in, it was in sales. But actually, when I got there, it wasn’t sales.

It was the administration in the wrong administration team. They do an important job, but I was used to going out and having to win deals every single day, every single minute of every day, you know, it was large numbers, a bigger sales opportunity.

And that we were in the support administration where actually our role was to ensure that we made, we onboarded of the organizations that were going to be tied agents to us. And that was a lot more detail. It was a lot more dealing with the regulators and the interaction. And therefore, you know, if you’ve got one onboarded a week, it was to be celebrated

I’m not sure that I’m the right personality fit for this particular role.

So we’re going back nearly 20 years. And I feel for them today, I remember on day one going in and, and I, we’re still waiting to, to kind of get all my log-ons and everything. And I answered the phone. And so when he said, can you send me a format? And I was like, of course, let me, can I be remote addressed?

We’ll get it over to you. And in terms of the person next to me, I was like, could you do me a favour? Could you email it for me to, to this address, please? We don’t do that here. And I’m sorry who we don’t do that here. Take this piece of paper over here. And when you fill out your message, we write down that I want to send an email to this person. I put their email address in a pot for me that I want to send it to you. Do they walk over there to that tray? And he put this paper in the tray and then three times a day, we’d go and collect the in-tray. And we did bring out the work and then one of the selection and I went, okay, let me just check.

So I said, fill out this form, by which point we could have emailed before, may I walk over there and put a tray, could probably be back in time in a couple of hours, you go and collect the track and give you the workout could have gone three times.

I used the least lean process I’ve ever heard in my life that should. And so like change their working day-to-day practice and what used to take 90 days to onboard. We got down to 28 days. Cause we took out all these silly processes that just been there forever, but didn’t actually add any value. Even though you were making progress, you were turning things over. There was an element of actually, what I need to understand first is what is the, I was really looking for. Where do I see my joy? Where is it that I get up and go, as long as this is part of a day, then I’m going to be really happy.

Very much so. And thank you everyone for watching. And God bless. Okay.

To achieve things in life and become successful we also need to look at failure very differently and we talk a lot about failure in many of our other videos, failure is so related to success you would not believe it.

Many people turn back when they are one millimetre away and their beliefs are holding them back. Developing a health happy mindset and facing whatever challenges appear in our lives s part of living and will move us forward to the life we wish to live in our dreams.

If only we just took action, if only we didn’t believe our scared self our successful future self is much less likely to appear if we always believe our negative self talk about ourselves, once we develop our inner world and face up to the challenge of correcting the mindsets that we experience on a daily basis we will tend to be so much more happy.

Just think if we waste all that ability by continuing to have a fixed mindset and not to embrace our intelligence our beliefs have made us a slave. Whatever business we work for, whatever career we have whatever challenges we have to face them head on.

The key to this is to go back to school, embrace our learning, search for the right guidance so we can move beyond the negative self talk to embrace our abilities to embrace our intelligence and embrace whatever mental state we find ourselves in.

We have the skills, we can face the challenges, all we need to do is to put some effort in, all we need to do is to research our mental state, embrace our skills and put in some effort. Yes I said effort! Did you think that intelligence was a given!

Management teams need to learn to embrace the challenging environments that they find their co-workers in and help them to embrace the fail to flip it into achievement, this is essential to success and to learn how to encourage positive energy and grow those critical talents learning how to succeed.

I find it so much fun despite not going to university to focus on your talents and expand the essential skills that are needed in today’s challenging business environments we will be able to cultivate the leaders of the future no matter what education they start with. Sometimes people just need a push. They need to focus on their image and their energy levels to learn what skills that will enable them to build the X-Factor!

Getting honest feedback from team members is also key in this process, students must understand that once they finish studying they need to continue learning or they will become irrelevant like many other sadly displaced workers.

The psychology of success is so important and the more you look at it and the more you cultivate this positive attitude the higher the chance you will have to achieve career success.
